The Inn at Hunt’s Landing Becomes The Landing at Matamoras
Years after Saumik Sonny Patel purchased the longtime landmark The Best Western at Hunt’s Landing he found himself in a post-pandemic situation that many business owners are now facing- A lack of a reliable workforce. The pandemic gave those that were considering retirement a reason to throw in the towel leaving employers with no one to fill their positions. Sonny found himself in a bit of a jam once the pandemic was over and people wanted to start booking parties, weddings, and events at the largest event venue in the area- Hunt’s Landing. Previously known for its famous seafood buffet, The Inn at Hunt’s Landing was the go-to place for anyone who was looking to hold an event in the Milford, Lordes Valley, Hawley, Glen Spey, and the surrounding Tri-State area and while Sonny had invested a significant amount of money renovating and updated the venue, he still had no one to run the facility. He thought of his Sullivan County friend Randy Resnick, owner of Bernie’s Holiday Restaurant, Crust Italian Eatery, and the County’s premier catering company BHR Caterers- who had just coincidentally just lost their large venue to a sale in Sullivan County. Upon seeing the beautiful 3 event room venue, Resnick called his team together, including Catering Manager, Shane Phillippy, to see if they felt they could handle the task of becoming the exclusive caterer for the venue. Never willing to back down from a challenge and the need for a large venue caused the team to say yes. Wanting a fresh start with a modern vibe, the team rebranded the venue The Landing and the three event rooms, The Parlour- where smaller gatherings take place in a cozy atmosphere; The Atrium- the bright, beautiful room where cocktail parties and birthday parties are met with sunshine and beautiful pond views; and finally Legacy Ballroom- capable of seating over 400 guests for large events such as weddings and conferences. Randy Resnick and his Team at BHR Caterers bring new flavor, a new vibe, and over 30 years of experience in the restaurant/catering industry to The Landing creating a solution to Both Sonny and Randy’s problems as well as amazing new experiences for people in the Tri-State area.
